Dance Soc Annual Showcase Preview

Following last year’s sell out show ‘Hit the Lights!’, Dance Soc is happy to announce that its annual showcase will be heading to the stage at The Byre Theatre this year on April 28th and 29th. With new and inventive themes gracing us each year, the showcase this year will feature the theme ‘Once Upon a Time’.

The showcase will feature a whopping 27 dances in 9 different styles, choreographed over the course of the semester. Featuring performances by the Blue Angels and various dance classes offered by Dance Soc, 155 dancers will take to the stage. The storybook theme will play host to a wide variety of dances, each one telling a different story. Guests can look forward to performances centred on stories from Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland to more unconventional tales, including Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars. The show will definitely cater to a large audience, with something for everyone in the crowd to enjoy. And for those of you who aren’t Fairy Tale buffs, there will be a few Beyoncé-inspired numbers that are sure to be #FLAWLESS.

With much of their proceeds going to support the charity Families First, which aims to provide practical help and support to families experiencing difficulties and provide a service relevant to their needs, the event is truly a good cause.

Guests will be treated to a range of styles of dance, great music, and Janetta’s ice cream. Everyone is excited to show off the moves they’ve tirelessly practiced, whether they are in one dance or 11. Dance Soc is a great group, open to total beginners and advanced dancers, and the showcase represents the hard work of members of all levels.
