Classic Prince Wills: ‘You leave St Andrews either married or an alcoholic’

When the Prince and his Princess attended the 600th anniversary fundraising gala in New York City for St Andrews, where they first met and dated.

The Duke of Cambridge joked he would’ve been an alcoholic had he not married Kate Middleton.

Maybe it’s that New York City is home to almost as many Americans as St Andrews uni, but something got Wills feeling nostalgic as he quipped about the drinking habits and romance on campus.

“It’s often said by the undergraduates of St Andrews that you leave the university in either one of two states: either married or an alcoholic.

“Fortunately for Catherine and me we ended up married.”

Even without the potential threat of treason hanging over your head, you have to admit that’s pretty punny for a royal.

Somewhere between alcoholism and marriage, Wills found his happy Middle-ton.
