Preview: A Capella Society Christmas Concert

Get ready St. Andrews, it’s going to be aca-mazing

When you think Week 11, do you not envisage chomping on mince pies, drinking buckets of mulled wine, and listening to endless Christmas music? I sure do. And what better way to fulfil your festive destiny by heading over to Younger Hall this Wednesday at 7.30pm and hearing St Andrews’ A Capella Society’s Christmas Concert!

This year’s event is supporting ‘Music in Hospitals: Scotland,’ a fabulous charity that visits hospitals, hospices, care homes, day centres, and special needs schools, with the hope of brightening up people’s lives through music. You can expect Christmassy renditions from all six of St Andrews’ A Capella clubs: The Accidentals, The Alleycats, The Belles, The Hummingbirds, The Other Guys, and The Vocal Bandits. The Stand caught up with a few of the groups to give all you music-lovers a little preview…

The Hummingbirds

“We are so excited to perform in the annual Christmas Concert this year, especially since it is the first one in support of the wonderful charity, Music in Hospitals! The Christmas Concert is consistently one of the most fun nights in St Andrews, so we encourage everyone who is in the holiday spirit to come along. This year, we will be bringing some sassy tunes and classic carols to the stage, so get ready to have some fun with the Hummies. As an extra-incentive for those attending, the Hummies will be looking fashionably festive by wearing antlers while boogying onstage.”

“We are thrilled to be performing for our second Christmas concert!! We hope our mixed set of both Christmas and non-Christmas songs will leave you rockin’ around the Christmas tree and ready to deck the halls!”

The Accidentals

“We always love performing at the annual Christmas Concert and this year we can’t wait to bring it on the Younger Hall stage! We’ll be performing two new songs that we have just recorded for our new album, as well as a surprise Christmas song. Christmas Concert is guaranteed to put us in the Christmas mood even in November and we are so excited to hear what the other groups will be singing too!”
