Amid rumors that ‘Empire’, one of St Andrews’ finest late-night eateries is due to close imminently, The Stand can reveal that this malicious rumour couldn’t be further from the truth.
With reports spreading like wildfire all over Facebook and Yik Yak (a relatively new location-specific social media app), The Stand felt this was a story that needed to be investigated.
Following an in-depth investigation/casual chat whilst ordering their infamous cheesy chips, a spokesperson for Empire said that the rumors weren’t true and that Empire will “never close.” We imagine Empire was buoyed by our editors’ endorsement two weeks ago.
For St Andreans this only means one thing. The days of drunkenly standing outside the hallowed steps of ‘Empire’ at 2am live on. Whether you only venture to ‘Empire’ for a quick late-night snack, or if it becomes you home for an hour after the lights come up at the Lizard or Vic, it will continue to compete with Dervish for the best fast food this town has ever seen.
