Five things to do this week

I hope you’re all feeling fresh and beautiful after a day of watching TV in bed with numerous cups of herbal tea in an attempt to recover from Welly, and are ready for a week of fabulous events

1. Appreciate student and local art

If you love art and wine, as most St Andrews students do, head to Trinity Church Hall on Tuesday between 19:30 and 23:00 for a student-run art exhibition. All the art work has been submitted by students and locals, and will be available for purchase on the night, all proceeds going to the artists and ‘Fire Station Creative’, a Dunfermline based charity. Tickets can be bought online for £7 on the show’s website, http://artafterhourssta.tumblr.com, guaranteeing you a free flow of wine and the opportunity to support your fellow students and St Andrews inhabitants in their artistic endeavours.

2. Have a Merry Titmass

Join the CoppaFeel! team on Tuesday night at the Vic for its Christmas event. Wear your sexiest Christmas themed outfit, something along the lines of the Plastics’ get-up for their rendition of ‘Jingle Bell Rock’, or your favourite snuggly jumper imprinted with a reindeer with a pair of antlers to complete the look. Entry is only £3 and drinks have been discounted especially for the ladies’ festive evening.

3. Get spaced out at Space Out

This Friday Russian Society is holding its event ‘Space Out’ at Rascals, an astronaut themed night with electronic music and discounted drinks. Tickets are being sold on Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 until 16:00 outside the library, £6 for members, £8 for non members. Embrace your inner space geek in a shiny space helmet (they’re only £4.99 on eBay!) and head to Rascals any time after 21:00.

4. Sing and make merry at Cosmic Cabaret

If you like the idea of a space themed event, but aren’t really in the mood for electronic music, join STAR on Friday at Trinity Church Hall for a cabaret evening with performances from all their most popular shows. Entree is free and glow sticks will be provided, but you’ve got to supply your own alcohol. Dress in ‘galactic glamour’ in accordance with the radio station’s namesake, buy a bottle of wine en route and be there for a strict 20:30 start.

5. Dine and dance with Scandos

This Friday seems to be jam-packed with great events, and it’s up to you to decide which to grace your presence with. I’d say Scandinavian Society’s ‘Nobel Ball’, a sit-down dinner and dance at the Scores Hotel, is going to be the most stylish and coveted, but you’ve got to be mentally and physically prepared to spend the night in a room full of beautiful people with impeccable dress sense and manners. Ticket sales have already been, but I’m sure you can find a way in if you know the right people.
