Live Tinder review
Live Tinder provided a mellow atmosphere where friends and strangers alike got to mingle and make acquaintance over a few cocktails.
The Socialiser, one of the newest event organisers to grace St Andrews, has recently hosted Live Tinder, a fun night of speed dating with your fellow St Andreans. Taking place at the West Port on South Street, Live Tinder provided a mellow atmosphere where friends and strangers alike got to mingle and make acquaintance over a few cocktails.
While I wasn’t sure what to expect after my last Tinder debacle, I figured a martini or two couldn’t lead me astray in the company of friends who attended this fantastic event. Upon arrival, guests were given an ID number and plenty of time to head to the bar for a drink.
As more people poured in and the venue filled up, everyone was moved to their assigned table number. Once each couple was sat down, we were given three minutes to chat, or, if we fancied, flirt the night away. Each table was graced with various ice-breakers, from Would You Rather questions to the ever-popular F***, Marry, Kill dilemmas.
As soon as the whistle blew, men and women were shuffled around in turn. While speed dating is usually a fairly rushed evening, often times filled with unexpected cardio, the venue’s more intimate upper floor made for quick transitions, albeit a few bump-ins. As Socialiser reps made their rounds and returned with drinks for guests, conversation continued to flow between couples around the room.
In a town as small as St Andrews, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the crowd of Live Tinder. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see a flood of familiar faces as I hopped from table to table. A night of hesitant speed dating turned into a evening of catching up with friends over drinks, and upon leaving, my social calendar was filled with plans. Definitely one of the blessings of our small, coastal town – no matter where you are in St Andrews, you will always find a familiar face.
When asked how they felt the event went, reps from The Socialiser “were pleased with the turnout and the atmosphere” and overall how well the evening played out. In considering future events, they ask that we all stay tuned in and get involved!
I would like to congratulate The Socialiser for putting on such a great first event, and for the redemption they provided after my first tango with Tinder.
