Five things to do this week

I know it’s been a killer of a weekend, Bongo on Friday, Raisin yesterday, but let’s hope you still have some energy left to do some of these things

1. Laugh at foamy freshers

It’s Raisin Monday and you’re probably all feeling horrendously hungover after yesterday’s day-drinking and party-hopping. Hopefully you were around Sallie’s Quad  at around 11am to witness the partakers in the foam fight. It’s always so odd and hilarious to watch. Definitely worth a little break from the library’s fourth floor.

2.  Go to see a staging of Hookhitch’s play

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week On the Rocks and Mermaids are collaborating to bring a Theatre company called Hookhitch to St Andrews to give a performance of their play, This was the World and I was King. This family friendly folk musical was a 2013 Fringe sell out and has had five star reviews all over the country. This is going to be really fun and fabulous! Please don’t skip it to spend a couple more hours working on that essay in the library!

3. Apply for a Welly Ball table

This week is very important for those of you who want the chance of securing a table at Welly Ball 2014, St Andrews’ best, most unique ball in my opinion. The ballot opens at midnight on October 22nd and closes at midnight on October 24th, and you have to send your list of ten names, specifying your head of table, to [email protected]. The cost of dinner is £55, including a meal and lots of wine, and black tie is mandatory!

4. See over 10 acts for only £10

FFALL, a new student music and arts festival, is taking place this Saturday October 25th. It’s going to last 12 hours, and includes over 10 acts across two stages, with contributions from 9 creative societies. Tickets are only £10 and are available on the Union’s website. The wide range of artistic exhibitions and performances means that there really is something for everyone, so don’t miss out in fear that it’s not your kind of thing.

5. Submit a piece to Stereoscope

Stereoscope, a magazine celebrating student photography while also raising awareness about the University of St Andrews’ photographic special collections, is looking for submissions for its mini issue. The theme of the issue is ‘Chance’, so email your submission to [email protected] by November 1st.
