Five things to do today!

Don’t let this morning’s hangover beat you

1. Attend Church

If you’re a churchgoer and unsure which church to attend out of the many on offer, meet members of The Christian Union outside the Union at 10:15am to be guided to one that suits you. Whether you’re religious or not, I recommend attending the first Sunday morning Pier Walk following St Salvator’s Chapel’s Sunday Service. The sight of hundreds of students in red gowns walking along St Andrews’ pier in the final embers of East Fife’s sunshine is not to be missed!

2. Try ceilidh dancing

A ceilidh dance is going to be held at Boys Brigade Hall, Kinnessburn Road between 2pm and 5pm. This will be a great opportunity for new students to try out the fun, fast-paced Scottish dance. For those of you that are returning students, relearn the steps and show the younger ones the ropes. Come on guys, the sooner you immerse yourself in Scottish culture, the sooner you’ll start to feel at home!

3. Get involved in charity work

With its numerous student-led charitable organisations and events, St Andrews is the perfect place to put your kind hearts to good use and become involved in charity work. Start off your charitable career by meeting members of the St Andrews branch of Students Supporting Street Kids (SSSK) at 6pm in The Victoria Café, St Mary’s Place. This will give you the opportunity to find out about their sign-up event and launch party!

4. Display team spirit at Clan Warfare

Clan Warfare is taking over the Union once again and promises attendees a night of face paint, screaming and hysterical freshers. The aim of the night is to chant your hall song louder than students from other halls to secure a great prize and a deserved sense of superiority over students living in different parts of town. It’s a great opportunity to make friends with students in your hall and unite in your hatred of other university accommodation.

5. Drunken trip to Courtyard

Although I personally prefer Dervish’s chips to Courtyard Café’s cheesy paninis, you should check out another St Andrews drunken food provider to restore depleted energy levels after Clan Warfare and decide which you like best.
