Saints Cheer Team Achieve Success At The Nationals

The Saints Cheer team, fuelled by Dominos Pizza, enjoy success at Nationals.

The Saints Cheerleading Squad have just returned from the end their most successful year so far, with an incredible performance at the British Cheerleading Association’s University Nationals. After nine months of hard work, dedication and 7am practices, they were rewarded with two trophies, seeing off ten other university teams.

Naturally, emotions were running incredibly high as last minute adjustments were made to the routine that took nine months to create. The next morning called for an early start, arriving at the venue at 7:30 to warm up and compete.

First to compete was the All-Girl Stunt Group Level Two, who put on their best performance.  The moment was made even better when the rival squad remarked: “They’ve won this!” After a short wait, the next two individual stunt groups, All-Girl Level Three and Co-ed Level Three, performed equally impressive routines, proving that the Saints are a force to be reckoned with!

Cheer

As the music came to an end, the squad made a quick exit to watch our routine on the screens. One of the unique things about cheer is that one always supports the competitors, rather than wishing their stunts to fall.

6:30pm struck and it was time for the awards to be announced.  The results came in slowly but surely, first rewarded with second place out of twenty four teams in All-Girl Stunt Group Level Two, and then in the squad with fourth place!

With pride, The Saints could cheer on their long drive back to The Bubble with excitement to see what  next year will bring! Who would have thought someone who could barely cartwheel this time last year would be on a cheerleading team! Anyone else for Level Three next year?
