Can you manage 5K?
Turn yourself from chump into champion for a good cause.
As part of Well-Being Week in St Andrews, the Women’s Lacrosse team has organised a 5K run to raise awareness for Healthy Body Healthy Mind.
The Healthy Body Healthy Mind scheme aims to improve student mental health through information, sport and exercise.
Although the event isn’t strictly fancy dress, I’ve been assured that you’re more than welcome to run as your favourite animal or character if you want to spruce things up a little; that said, Borat mankinis will be frowned upon as ever.
The Lacrosse team is eager to impress upon St Andrews’ students the importance of this event, and has written the following to encourage your participation:
“There are some things in life you don’t want to miss out on. Thinking of important moments may conjure memories of a Christmas spent at home, witnessing the birth of a child or lounging on the beach at a favorite vacation spot. However, these times inevitably pale in comparison to what will be the greatest day of your life. April 11th. This is the day you will turn yourself from a chump into a champion. Repeat after me: ‘I am a champion. I will not be afraid to be great and I cannot wait to run the most fun five kilometers I have ever run.’ Well done chums. We (yes I’m including you in this because you just told me you’re in) are doing this in order to promote sport in Scotland and raise money for Healthy Body Healthy Mind. Let’s get to it. Click that button and get that ticket and prepare yourself for the most momentous 5K in history. You’re about to become a champion.”
After those words of hearty encouragement/intimidation, I expect you will all be eager to sign up. You can do so online using the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/healthy-body-healthy-mind-5k-tickets-10983926219
Best of luck in your transformation from chump into champion…
For those less inclined to running long distances (like me), I’ve been told that bikes, scooters and pogo sticks are expressly prohibited.
