Salmond puts St Andrews Crest on Scottish flag!

Exclusive reveal of Salmond’s Scottish flag!

The First Minister of Scotland is paying tribute to his St Andrews education with the biggest gift of all. Alex Salmond has exclusively revealed to The Stand that if Scotland votes for its independence, the flag will have the St Andrews crest on it. He, along with the rest of the SNP, feel that this sign will court the international clientele of St Andrews and “swing the vote in their favour”.

During his time at St Andrews, Salmond lived in St Salvator’s Hall while he studied for his joint honours degree in Economics and Medieval History. He was elected as Vice-President of the Students’ Representative Council and was nominated to join St Andrews Community Council. Salmond was heavily involved in extra-curricular life, which may have caused his academics to slightly suffer, graduating with 2:2 MA in 1978.

Salmond personally congratulated the university on its 600th anniversary and said,“The University of St Andrews is globally recognised as an institution of academic excellence and it is important that we celebrate its achievements and proud history.”

He believes that no higher praise can be afforded to this great university than by merging his two loves: an independent Scotland and its first university. There is no greater symbol of pride than putting the St Andrews crest on the flag of the country that he was brought up in and loves.
