Community Council fighting local seagull nests

Seagulls are hunted by Community Council.

It seems I am not the only one tired of flinching at the ginormous seagulls who seem to be taking over our darling town. The increased number of nests in the town centre has caught the attention of the St Andrews Community Council, who have called for urgent attention against the fiends.

Unfortunately, it seems the birds are far too attracted to the wealth of cafes in St Andrews to leave us in peace, resulting in a few too many complaints about seagull noise and aggression from the locals.

But who can blame them when they are of such a monstrous size. It’s not natural.

The council are not allowed to kill the gulls themselves but are within their legal right to remove nests from the area, which occurred between May to August and was conducted by an expert. After that, gull-proofing measures will be implemented to try and keep the pesky things away from our beloved town.

So far the scheme has only been tried in certain areas of the town, namely in the east and west of St Andrews, but there are plans to extend the programme. With any luck, the council will be able to prevent a population increase.

I for one will be celebrating that day. They’re just creepy.
