Elections 2014: What’s to come

Elections are upon us, get excited (or keep far away from the library).

| UPDATED

Before the hooting and hollering, free baked goods galore and mudslinging can begin, every candidate for positions in the Student Association must be nominated. Election season is upon us – nominations begin today at 9:00 online.

How is one nominated? Glad you asked! In order to be nominated for any position, as a minimum you must be a matriculated St Andrews student, not banned from the Union and have no outstanding personal debts to the Association. No one can run for more than one position within the Students’ Association elections.

Each nomination must be “self-nominated and seconded by another two matriculated students who are not banned from the Union Building,” according to the Candidate’s Handbook 2014, which also specifies that you must be who you say you are because “Nominations on behalf of other students or as impersonations of another individual will not be accepted.”
