The Other Guys’ toured USA

The Other Guys hop across the pond…

Marking the end of an old decade and the beginning of a new, The Other Guys kicked off their 10th year anniversary celebrations with an exciting tour of the United States this past January.

The tour seemed to foreshadow an era of artistic innovation for The Other Guys, for both the audiences and the set list were of a new kind. The first a cappella group at St Andrews to tour the United States, The Other Guys performed in venues throughout Boston and New York City, including prestigious preparatory boarding school, Philip’s Exeter, a KIPP charter school in the Bronx, Lincoln Center, and even a cheeky gay bar. The Other Guys collaborated with two other a cappella groups whilst in New York, Brown University’s the Jabberwocks and the University Glee Club of New York City, comprised of alumni from a range of New York City universities.

Mark Gregory, member of The Other Guys, remarked that the a cappella group had previously faced sharp criticism for having a flat and overused set list. The group was minor-ly taken aback, responded with a bewildered “A-ca-scuse me?,” but eventually agreed that the criticism was not falsetto.

Recognizing the importance of changing things up at St Andrews in order to keep people interested, The Other Guys began to work on an entirely new range of songs, which they later performed on their tour.

Their new songs will be debuted at St. Andrews this Wednesday at their Homecoming performance in Buchanan Theater from 8 to 10 pm. Some of the new tunes include a traditional Scottish melody, as well as songs by popular artists such as Justin Timberlake, MIKA, the Beatles, and Miley Cyrus.
