If heat stroke from the Scottish summer hasn’t totally thrown you off, you know exams are looming over the horizon and it’s time to start exchanging your mantra of #StudyingStartsTomorrow for #StudyWell.

So what actually is #StudyWell?

#StudyWell is a campaign run by Nightline to promote positive mental health and studying habits during a stressful Exam Diet. Nightline is reaching out to students by using the main tool of procrastination – the internet. From the Thursday 2nd June onwards Nightline will be launching a new website, Facebook page and Twitter account and will be frequently updating them with things that we think might help you to study better and stay aware of your own mental wellbeing.

If you can manage to tear yourself away from your very exciting revision for a moment, what kinds of things should you expect to see?

Well, we will be updating the blog, Twitter and Facebook with things which we think could specifically help you, St Andrews students. Relaxation tips, articles concerning mental health, exam timetables, the best places to study in St Andrews, healthy recipes and brain foods to keep you going, the rules of productive procrastination (which don’t involve spending three hours googling your tutor to see what they looked like when they were young, ending up on that space in the internet that is just cats looking surprised), how to take a break in St Andrews, what happens when things go wrong with exams… all sorts of ways to put you that little bit more at ease and help you through the next couple of weeks.

How can you get involved?

Firstly you can like our Facebook page, then if you have Twitter go ahead and follow us, and while you are at it you should take a look at our brand new website, which is not only host to our blog, but also has lots of information about Nightline if you are interested.

If you want to go that little bit further to help us out with #StudyWell and future campaigns, you can become one of our Social Media Advocates – great for anyone interested in media or chairty careers, or if you just want to help make St Andrews a better place. All you need to do is fill in a form (found here) and for the next campaigns, we might ask you to post a status or retweet, or help in some other way. Finally, a good excuse for all those hours spent backward stalking yourself on Facebook to choose an appropriately hilarious cover photo – you’re a social media advocate. It requires minimal comittment and is a great way to get involved, so give it a go.

Finally, for everyone who has been too lost in daydreams on the library toilets, what else do Nightline do?

Nightline is a phone and email listening and information service, run by students for students. We are open every single night that halls are open from 8pm to 7am and offer a non-judgmental, non-directive, confidential and anonymous service for students. No topic is too big or too small for us, you can even call us if you just want a takeaway number! Our phone number is 01334 46 2266 (it’s also on the back of your matric card) and our email address is [email protected]. Have a look at our brand new website for more details, and remember, #StudyWell!
