After a week of free cultural and educational Russia Week events, the Russian Society invites everyone to a closing night they will not remember.

IR students know that any diplomat negotiating with Russians is taught how to drink to be able to get the position. There are other ways to blend with the Vodka-loving crowd. Following these simple steps will help you feel at home at this year’s Russian Standard Open-Vodka-Bar party in the Golf Hotel.

Babushka: We’ve all heard of them, not everyone has seen one. The Russian Society suspects that they were the true inspiration behind the vintage-loving style of British hipsters.

How to: A combination of florals and patchwork, crowned with a lady-like scarf. A sweet and easy multi-layered look, that will keep you warm through a breezy evening on the Scores.

Drunken Sailor: A classic character that survived through all storms of Russian history without an attempt to sober-up

How to: Sailor Shirt, baggy jeans, pirate’s eye, fake tattoo, smoking pipe, sassy attitude. Picking up fights might be a part of the image but a literal interpretation of the character will not be welcomed by the Golf Hotel’s security staff

Pioneer: a nostalgic post-USSR unisex look

How to: You are no longer required to swear an allegiance to the communist world revolution to pull-off the cheeky-school-pupil look. An ironed white shirt with a bright-red cravat of any material will get you there.

90s oligarchs: The Stand does not dare to characterize them for the safety of our team Behind an intimidating attitude is a very strict dress-code: 50 Cent in a purple suit jacket minus the cap. Golden chains, golden watch, golden teeth and a lady to follow you around. A toned- down look would include an all-black suit with a black turtle-neck and a couple of rugby players as your safeguards.

A clubbing moscovite: a pretty lady accessorize on the oligarch’s hand. Fur! Fur! Fur! Vintage bling paired with skyscraper heels, heavy make-up and a money-thirsty look in the eyes. Or just be a bear. Bears are always welcome.
