St Andrews needs more affordable accommodation and simply more accommodation available. A student shouldn’t have to wonder if they’ll have a decent place to stay next year. The university also needs more financial help available for lower-middle income students. Students from higher-income families don’t need help, and the focus for help is on the lowest bracket; students from lower-middle income are overlooked, but they need help just as much.

Simple: more qualified tutors who really know how to explain the material. Especially tutors and lecturers whose English is understandable! Lots of people stopped attending certain lectures because we simply couldn’t understand what was being said – our time was better spent reading the material and lecture slides on our own. And nothing sucks more than sitting in a tutorial for an hour, hearing explanations, but learning nothing.

I would like the president to set a great example of the calibre of students we have at St Andrews. I want those elected to re-assess the change in semester dates and negotiate amongst the University staff, particularly for first semester, to make it altogether less stressful.

I’d love a cash machine right next to the library. Preferably inside, so I don’t have to venture outside! That means that when I have spent all my money on caffeine, I don’t have to walk far to get more… for more caffeine. Sad, but true!

The library could use another revamp. Of course, this isn’t something the Sabbs really have control over directly; it would take a lot of support from the rest of the administration.
It would also be great if travel were more accessible. A lot that the town is missing can easily be made up for if we could get out more easily. There’s not a train station in St Andrews anymore, but a travel discount would help make up for it. But unfortunately, this is also something they can’t demand, but only ask for.
