St Patrick’s Day: That’s right, this Sunday is Guinness-and-Lucky-Charms for breakfast day! This Friday we’re having a green themed bop, but FYI the actual day is Sunday, so you should probably just make a weekend of it. Wearing of green is mandatory, and be sure to practice your Irish accent this week – no doubt you will be drunk enough to assume you can definitely do one come Friday. And you probably can’t.

Sinners Sport ft. Vengaboys: Blasting in from the year 1999 (over a decade ago…feeling old?) we have the one and only Eurodancepop kings, the Vengaboys, who strangely enough are a troupe comprised of two women and two men. Boom, boom, boom, boom, you could actually try and get them back to YOUR room, but do be aware they are all now grazing forty. Probably not quite the party animals they once were, but you can still be sure that Venue 1 will be packed with people in neon trying to relive their tenth birthday party. A viewing of Kevin and Perry Go Large is probably mandatory as prep for this event.

Greenpeace Open Mic Night: It doesn’t have to be one of those wasted Wednesdays this week – Greenpeace are hosting an ‘Ice Factor’ open mic night in Venue 2, so if you need a cultural fill, go along to hear some amazing music and poetry before deafening yourself at the hands of Sinners. They are also still open for performers – email in to grab a slot.

F**K ME IT’S FRAT NIGHT: IT’S BACK AND IT’S STILL ALL IN CAPITALS SO WE KNOW IT’S GOING TO BE TOTALLY F@#CKIN!!G NUTS! Seriously though, once again it has promised to totally transform Venue 1 on Tuesday with confetti canons, cheerleaders and solo cups, so we’re on board. £1 drinks deals and some great DJ sets – alongside the inevitable slutty sorority girls – will make this event pretty special, and the pre-sale is on now, so get on it. Kudos to the brains behind it for almost making the Union cool again, God bless ‘Murica, freedom, eagles, flags for all.

Xavier Project Talk: Go and listen to an hour’s talk from George Odour, who will shed light on the issue of the Congo and Congolese refugees and hopefully induce a desire to get people talking about this important issue. Check it out this Thursday at 7.30pm at the Golf Hotel. Xavier Project raises money to put children from refugee families through school so as to give a new generation a chance by teaching them the local language and giving them basic qualifications.
