What you’ve been waiting for all week. Election results are in and St Andrews has spoken… Chloe Hill is your new Association President.

After the first two rounds of voting Jamie Ross was winning. But in a tension-building few minutes in Venue 1, Chloe turned it around in the third, and by the final round had totalled 1504 votes, in comparison to Jamie’s 1330. She becomes the first female president in 13 years, quite fittingly on International Women’s Day.

Speaking in the Union bar after hearing the news, Chloe said: ‘The tension was horrific! I really wasn’t confident, I was feeling ill and was in bed at ten to ten.’

However, it seems the result certainly bucked her up though, ‘I bought 3 bottles of pink cava and I’m now going to celebrate like a true St Andrews student!’

Sadly, the election turn out was slightly below last year at 50%. No records broken by us this year *sob*.

Drum roll, please… The full Sabbatical team for 2013-2014 is as follows:

Association President- Chloe Hill

DoRep- Teddy Woodhouse

DoES- Dan Palmer

DoSDA- Kelsey Gold

AU President- Jess Walker

New Sabbs left to right: Teddy Woodhouse, Chloe Hill, Dan Palmer, Kelsey Gold

Teddy Woodhouse commented: ‘I’m honoured-it’s so crazy right now! We’ve got a really incredible Sabb team and I’m really excited for the next year.’

Running un-opposed, new DoSDA, Kelsey Gold said : ‘I’m thrilled to have defeated Ron in such fierce competition. Now it’s booze, more booze and hugs!’

‘Super Dan’ as his campaign made him out, Dan Palmer said: ‘It’s all very exciting! It’s hard to get my head around that I’m the new Jules- woo-hoo!’

The Stand would like to give all the nominees a congratulations for their campaigns this year. But remember, St Andrews isn’t everything; a world of opportunity awaits you.
