Today kicks off RAG Week, arguably the most action packed week of the semester, hosted each year by the University of St Andrews Charities campaign to raise money for their six nominated charities.

The week starts off tonight with Clan Warfare and will continue with events every night until the 9th of February. There is a wide array of events from the traditional bops in Venue 1 to events hosted by societies outside the union.

Every St Andrews do-gooder among us also has the opportunity to participate in DIY RAG in which you get to decide your own wild event in order to raise money for charity. This can range anywhere from baking cookies to dying your hair purple. Rumor has it that this year the RAG organisers are going the extra mile with a pier jump…

This year for the first time ever there is going to be a RAG shop, open on Bell St (or Dervish St as it is sometimes affectionately referred to). Make sure to stop by this weekend for ticket and raffle sales as well as the most updated information on events.

A complete list of events is as follows:

Friday Feb 1st: Clan Warfare. Paint yourself in your hall colours, memorise your #saucyhallchants, and dominate your competitors (the John Burnett vs. Uni Hall rivalry is pretty ferocious). Whether you want to participate or just watch the freshers go at it, it’s sure to be a wild night. #absolutemayhem #dontmissit #fomo

Saturday Feb 2nd: While the first Sin City of the semester (10 p.m./£6) will be back with a bang in Venue 1, the sweet tunes of the Just So Society Open Mic Night (8:30 p.m./£3) will be streaming out of Venue 2. #sexydancersforcharity #whocouldaskformore

Sunday Feb 3rd: Get your forks ready, because the Fine Food Fayre is coming to Younger Hall (11 a.m. – 5 p.m./£3) and it’s bound to be delicious. Eat your hearts out, food lovers. What more could you ask for after a day of eating than a night of musical excellence. Mil along with Fence records present The Pictish Trail + Eagleowl. Tickets are on sale in Taste or online. #lovethemusic #canyousaydelicious #wecansaydelicious #itsgoingtobedelicious

Monday Feb 4th: Dust off your kilt just in time for the RAG Week Ceilidh (8 p.m./£5)! Complete with a selection of shortbread, Irn Bru, and Tunnocks wafers, it’s one Scottish shindig that you won’t want to miss!

Tuesday Feb 5th: The sexiest, most scandalous, most shameless event of RAG Week is upon us! The Mr. St Andrews (8 p.m/£8) contestants are sure to be the best bunch of bachelors the halls have to offer, so head on over to Venue 1 for all the action. #boundtolaugh #guaranteedtodrool Alternatively, the VIC’s Secretly Famous launch party (9 p.m./£3) is offering £1 shots all night long. #BNOCterritory #letmerepeat #£1shots

Wednesday Feb 6th: Get your chocolate on at the BakeSoc/Fine Chocolate Society’s A Chocolate Affair (Venue 2, 3 p.m.). Yes, there will be a chocolate fountain. Hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ wife, because Sinners Sport (10 p.m./£3) is back. The end of the night might see you passed out on a roundabout or TCing in the bathroom, but it’s sure to be one for the books. #thingswillgetmessy #nighttoremember #ornot

Thursday Feb 7th: Have you got talent? Probably not, but the rest of St. Andrews does! Head on over to St Andrews Got Talent (8 p.m./£7) to watch other people showcase just how awesome they really are. If your talent is arguing with people, make your way to DebateSoc’s RAG Week Debate in Parliament Hall.

Friday Feb 8th: Just because you’re an adult now doesn’t mean you have to give up on your childhood. Take a walk down memory lane at the Disney Bop (10 p.m/£4), where you finally get the opportunity to wear that Buzz Lightyear costume of yours. #disney #heymickeyyousofine #yousofineyoublowmymind

Saturday Feb 9th: Finish your 2013 RAG Week off in style at the Catwalk fashion show (7.30pm/£12) or at the Bute Ball (£65). Or just go home and collapse of exhaustion in your bed. #noreally #wedontblameyou #ragweek2k13
