St Andrews is attempting to break a world record, and not one for most hours in the library and The Lizard in the same 24 hour period.

The Athletic Union is launching their attempt to beat the world record for largest Scottish country dance on the 10th of March to celebrate St Andrews’ 600th Anniversary. The event is also raising awareness for the Healthy Mind Healthy Body Award, which the union supports in conjunction with the Scottish Student Sport.

The event committee is recruiting people to dance “Strip the Willow,” preferably more than 1,914 of them. The current record is just that, and took place in Edinburgh in December 2000.
