With the onslaught of exams slowly driving us to insanity there is nonetheless one thing that keeps the men of this town on a spirited high: the Champions League! This year’s competiton has been fantastic and hasn’t failed to deliver great entertainment. Let’s look back at the campaign so far:

Malaga

The Spanish underdogs have been struggling with financial issues for a while now and the atmosphere in the club has been gloomy to say the least, but the Malaguistas have finished top of their group, throwing down the gauntlet for a trophy usually won by one of a predictable handful of teams. Power to them.

Manchester City

Mancini could be in trouble. The “noisy neighbours” are out of the competition and the Sheikhs behind the cash flow are doubtless unhappy. If we are to approach Mancini’s position like Ambramovich approached Di Matteo’s, then surely the former is in danger of a sacking, especially after Sunday’s loss against Man Utd. Keep your eyes peeled.

Zlatan Ibrahimovich

The Swedish star has been on top form recently, following his arrival at PSG, and has helped the team into the knockout stages. Scoring two goals and creating five assists in six games, the striker seems unstoppable – perhaps there could be a new contender for the title? And if you missed his overhead stunner against England last month, you are in for a treat:

On December 20th, names will be drawn for the knockout stages and soon the competition will be in full swing. This will most definitely be a memorable title chase; I simply cannot wait.
