Everyone on campus knows “The Other Guys.” With their barbershop harmonies and good-boy charm they’ve made freshers fawn, wowed Will and Kate, and successfully become the One Direction of St. Andrews.

Regs residents tweet like crazy as they spot the Pattie brothers walking down Queens Garden’s with their golf clubs swung casually over their shoulders. The fame of The Other Guys has recently burst the bubble of St Andrews with their new Christmas Chart-topper “Christmas Gets Worse Every Year” featuring Oscar Foxley.

The song has gained tremendous popularity on both the Amazon and ITunes charts, spending 6 consecutive days as number one on the Amazon Classical chart, firmly remaning number 4 in the Amazon USA opera charts right behind Katherine Jenkins and a respectable number 109 in ITunes between Rudimental and Mud. They are on page three of the Daily mail today alongside a picture of their girl Kate Middleton. A Youtube adapation of The John Lewis 2012 Christmas Advert features the song in all its wintery glory.

“It’s all a little surreal, we didn’t expect it to be this successful but we’re thrilled about it,” says TOG member Tarleton Watkins, his voice muffled by the brutal St Andrews wind. “We hope we can do as much as we possibly can to give back to the student accommodation bursaries.” All proceeds from the song will be going to help lower-income students pay for housing at St Andrews through the Students’ Association Bursary Fund. Handsome and charitable…

The loyal fans of The Other Guys are obviously ecstatic. First year Harriet Bryant, one of the first to download the song in support of their dream to be number one says, “I would love to see them achieve the success they deserve. They are such a talented group!”

Joshua Griffiths, one of their many heterosexual male fans says, “I was a fan of The Other Guys before I came to St Andrews. I really hope they get to number one. It would be great for the group and the university. I also think it’s amazing they’re donating the proceeds to charity.”

Fresher Charlotte Gorman agrees, “It’ll put the tremendous talent St Andrews has to offer on the map”.

Keep downloading, St. Andrews! Help our boys make their dream come true. #1dream
