The stage is set for Cameron Kirby after this week being named the new president of Mermaids, following the resignation of Jo Cox due to ill health.

At an emergency meeting earlier in the month the Mermaids committee discussed potential candidates and put forward the name of Barron Manager Kirby to become new president. On Tuesday the SSC acted on the recommendation, voting him in as both President of Mermaids and SSC Member for Performing Arts.

Andrew Muir, Mermaids Vice President said, ‘I think I speak for all of us on the Mermaids Committee when I say that I’m happy to be moving into our busiest month with a new sense of security in our leadership. I was very pleased that the SSC voted to co-opt Cameron as we really could not have gone on much longer without some certainty about the direction we were headed in.’

It seems there were no dramas behind the decision; Mermaids acted right on time.
