The Stand can reveal that Tinchy Stryder will be headlining St Andrews Freshers’ Week 2012.

On Sunday the 16th, the last weekend of Freshers’ Week, Tinchy Stryder will be playing a full set including his latest songs. The alternative hip hop supremo has had hit singles including Never Leave You, Number 1, and Bright Lights.

Tinchy Stryder is not the only big name to welcome fresh faces to this little fishing town. On Wednesday 12th September, the summer sensation Rudimental will be ensuring everyone Feel(s) The Love (beware of third years on the prowl). The Hackney quartet reached no. 1 in the UK singles chart in May and have had international success since. Their DJ set is likely to be the mid-week highlight.

The following night fellow East Londoner and former BBC Radio 1 DJ, Kissy Sellout, will be ripping up Venue 1.

As Freshers’ Week wraps up, Tinchie Stryder will be playing through until the early morning. By ‘early morning’ we mean a St Andrews early morning and by that we mean 2am.

Students have reacted enthusiastically to the news. 4th year Henry Hayes thought that “This is the best thing to happen to St. Andrews since that guy saved all those drowning people and gave us May Dip” and 3rd year Bella MacRitchie was unequivocal, “You gotta love a bit of Tinchy!”.

For those who do not yet have a ticket, The Stand will be giving away two Golden Tickets (giving access to all Freshers’ Week events) as well as two tickets to Tinchy Stryder. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for details. Freshers’ Week passes can also be purchased here.

The Stand will be revving back into life over the coming weeks and we can’t wait for another amazing year. Look out for our ‘Stand Back’ party the following week (hangover guaranteed).
