1. It’s Monday, you’re already sick of working, maybe you’ve even handed in that dreaded essay and now you just want a break… Well, how about Break Dancing? Tonight, the EID Society is having their weekly class from 6-7pm in the Union TV Room. All are welcome. I’m not ashamed to say that ever since I watched Step Up 2, I have always thought how ‘wicked’ it would be to be capable of all that bumpin’ and grindin’, leapin’ and spinnin’ and whatever else. It might not happen in one session, but you don’t know until you try…

2. The Hispanic Society’s Bajo el Mar: Churros and chocolate, ‘Hispanic-flavoured’ Janetta’s ice cream (don’t question it: ice cream is ice cream), a free shot (better than nothing), a Hispanic cocktail bar and of course lots of sexy, slick and sultry dancing – plus the guests. What more could you ask for? For just £10 you can head to the aquarium this Friday, 9pm-1:30am, for a night of cultural madness against a backdrop of pumping Chilean tunes.

3. The Suspicions and Destination Anywhere DJ set at The Vic: According to The Vic, ‘if you’re out with the In Crowd, or in with the Out Crowd’ this is the event to go to on Friday night. Not sure what the hell that means but… it’s free! So if you’re on a budget that means you can’t join everyone at Bajo el Mar, check this out instead. Besides, if it’s not your thing, you can always take your jam-jar cocktail (although its handle suggests it’s not a real jam-jar) and chat with friends at one of the dimly lit tables.

4. St Andrean Rugby: Show some patriotism this Saturday and head down to watch your rugby team represent you! In case you didn’t know, we have a pretty damn good rugby team here in St Andrews, and for those of you not interested in the sport itself, why not head down to admire muscle-men in shorts? (If that’s your kind of thing.) Worst-case scenario, neither take your fancy, but you take a group of friends, a jug of Pimms and now that it’s breaching on Spring, enjoy a little sunshine. It’s better than sitting in the library.

5. Life Drawing: Wind down between 8pm and 10pm on Sunday evening at Art Soc’s relaxed and creative event in The Barron. Scribble away while a DJ plays mellow beats in the background, and if you really struggle to draw nature’s form, try drawing one of the weird and wonderful props sometimes brought along by the models (my personal favourite, a Swedish Horn). It’s definitely worth trying at least once. Bring paper and pencil and forget about that reading you have to do; get artsy before it all starts again on Monday.
