The Stand has interviewed every sabbatical candidate. If you have any other questions that you’d like us to ask them just email us.

Why do you feel that DoRep position is important to St Andrews?

Student representation is fundamental to a brilliant St Andrews Experience. You need strong leaders who are able to fight for your issues and negotiate with the University so that you can have the best four years possible. I am that soldier.

What do you believe makes you especially qualified for the job?

You won’t find anyone with more experience as a student representative than me. I was appointed the Rector’s Assessor for Kevin Dunion in 2010, so I’ve already sat on University Court and campaigned for important changes affecting you such as bursaries, the Library and Union redevelopment. Further to that, this year I’ve been the Association Chair and have been active in many different levels of the Union. I’ve worked closely with the sabbaticals of the last two years and so I know exactly how the job works.

What three main principles do you plan to follow during your year as a Sabb?

Open communication, approachability – and through both of those, true representation. I will put my strength behind issues the student body want me to fight for.

If you could make a major change in St Andrews today what would it be?

24 hour tesco or bring back Nisa.

Seriously though – we need more affordable accommodation and it should be a top priority.
