St Andrews Revue: Zizzi’s is packed to the rafters with loved up diners, Tesco has 2-for-1s on practically everything from pizza to washing up liquid, and Fischer and Donaldson is filled with heart shaped pink biscuits. We feel a bit sick, and not from the food, but because we’re meant to be do something on Valentine’s Day. So the stand urges you to go to ‘The St Andrew’s Revue: A Public Display of Affectation’. Following a sold-out performance at On the Rocks last year the Revue is back with a hilarious sketch comedy show at the Byre. Tickets are only £5 and available online or at the Byre box office. If you’re ‘Single in St Andrews’ or you can’t afford that dinner date, we’ll see you there!

Catwalk: Warming us up for the St Andrews Fashion Season this RAG Week sees the return of Catwalk. This Saturday, Venue One is going to be transformed and showcasing some of the most wonderful regional and local design talent. Come wearing Cocktail dress, not your usual Union attire, as there is even a VIP option and VIPers will be treated to front row tables, Freixenet sparkling wine, goodie bags and VIP table service. Tickets can be reserved by emailing [email protected] or on the door. £8 for a regular ticket, £15 for VIP.

Library Fines for Charity: That 9:45am short loan library deadline is worse to wake up to than any hangover we know. We’re one week in to semester two with levels of (library) debt that could rival the Greek economy. To make things sweeter this RAG week, if you pay off your library fines on Thursday, the Library has decided to kindly donate all the money to our Charities. The money raised will be split between Cancer Research UK, Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, Children’s Hospice Association Scotland and Médecins Sans Frontiers.

St Andrews Got Talent: There’s some talented people here. Now you can watch them this Thursday. Auditions were held last semester to find the greatest talent from our three streets. With Comedy, Singing, Instruments and Dance groups feast your eyes on them and watch as one act is awarded £150 by the illustrious panel of judges. On arrival all guests will be greeted with Janettas ice cream and the bluesy lyrics of The Other Guys. The Raffle prizes look incredible. Tickets are £6, or £9 for VIP treatment including goodie bags and wine. Tickets are available online or from 5:30pm in the Union and all the proceeds go to UNICEF.

Beth Jeans Houghton and the Hooves of Destiny in association with RAG week with support from Goodnight Lenin: Described as ‘Joni Mitchell for the anti-folk generation’ the Music is Love team have convinced Beth and her band to come up to St Andrews. For anyone picturing a girl and her guitar, think again – this is a full band performance and is going to be just what we need this weekend. With words like ‘mesmerising’ being thrown around and the Guardian telling us that ‘she’s turning heads and hearts’, I think we just found that end of the week Valentine and she’s only £7 to watch. Tickets are available online or from the great people at the Union. Doors open at 8:30pm, Saturday.
