Southampton is officially in the new Tier 2: Here’s how this affects students
Pubs will be able to open with an 11pm curfew
Emily LitchfieldIt has been announced that Southampton will be in Tier 2 when national lockdown ends on December 2nd.
Tier 2 rules include pubs that can serve substantial meals and restaurants will be able to reopen with an 11pm curfew.
In Tier 2 areas like Southampton, the rule of six still applies in outdoor settings but mixing households indoors is not permitted. Spectator sports will be able to continue at an audience capacity of 50 per cent.
This comes as the current rate of infection for Southampton per 100,000 was reported as 129 in the last week. The current rate on average in England is 169.
Anyone living inside a Tier 2 zone has been requested to avoid travel into Tier 3 areas.
The majority of the rest of England is in Tier 2 along with Southampton. The only places to be put into a Tier 1 lockdown were The Isle of Wight, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and places in the highest Tier 3 restrictions include Manchester, Coventry and Leeds.
