Update: There are 46 cases of coronavirus amongst Soton Uni students

There were six new cases reported yesterday


There are 46 cases of coronavirus amongst University of Southampton students and one amongst staff. Six new cases were reported to the university yesterday.

Seven of the cases are in University halls of residence whilst 39 students who have tested positive for coronavirus are in private rented accomodation.

At Solent University there are seven cases of coronavirus amongst its students and two amongst its staff. One new case was reported yesterday.

In the last seven days, there have been 442 new cases of coronavirus in Southampton.

University of Southampton students are now able to take saliva tests weekly which the university hopes will limit the spread of coronavirus within the university. Students are still able to collect two free face masks from the university.
