Soton Uni is giving free face masks to all students!

You can collect your masks from today

Southampton will be providing all students with two face coverings. This follows a series of COVID-secure measures the university is taking.

Students in university halls will have received the complimentary face masks in their halls pack when they moved in.

For students not living in halls, you can collect your face mask on campus from Monday 5 October from:

• Hartley Library

• WSA Library

• SUSU (Building 42).

The university has encouraged students “to collect a face covering when near these campus locations, or during a booked slot” in order to avoid non-essential trips to campus.

Where to wear your mask in uni

Soton students will be required to wear face masks inside University building unless they have been “specifically told otherwise because the space has been designed to enable 2 metres physical distancing”.

Face masks are also required “in all shared spaces within student accommodation such as communal circulation spaces and entrance ways, receptions, laundries, study areas”. Masks should be worn on public transport and at transport hubs if indoor or if physical distancing is not possible.

The university added: “If you are unsure, then the simple rule is to wear a face covering indoors when on our campuses”.
