Man assaulted in an alleyway near Carlton Road and Archers Road

The alleyway has been sealed off


A man was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury after he was assaulted in an alleyway that connects James Weld Close to Carlton Road.

Two men attacked the 39-year-old and left him with "serious but not life threatening" injuries, according to a Hampshire Police spokesperson.

Police were called at around 8:50 pm last night (June 6) to the alleyway. The area was sealed off with police tape this morning but it has since been lifted.

A forensic officer was seen searching through a bush in the cordoned off alleyway.

Police say two men from Winchester, aged 49 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

They remain in police custody at this time.

Officers remain in the area today carrying out enquiries.
