University of Southampton gym membership increases

Students v angry

The University of Southampton’s new membership is a lot broader and diverse than it has been in previous years. It has also spiked in price, which has obviously caused some anger from students.

The ‘Peak Performer’ category, which offers the same facilities as the former membership has increased to £230, which has caused outrage.

The membership has been changed to control overcrowding, increase participation and provide greater flexibility for the members. Apparently, the membership will be  “significantly cheaper” for many, as these users will be able to access the facilities more often. This means that a member will pay less per usage and there get more for their money.

The University will also be upgrading their booking system, including a new app.
