Hit 1980’s band Duran Duran are the latest headliner to be announced for the Common People festival.

The band, who had hit songs such as ‘Hungry like the Wolf’ and ‘Ordinary World’ will be closing out the festival on Sunday 29th May 2016.

The Common People festival is returning to Southampton Common for its second year over the May bank holiday after its resounding success in 2015.

Duran Duran, who formed in Birmingham during the late 1970’s will be joined by an eclectic mix of artists such as Craig David’s TS5, Primal Scream and Chas & Dave.

Duran Duran’s John Taylor said “We are very honoured to be a part of this year’s Common People festival, we had such an incredible time at Bestival last year. It’s going to be a fantastic weekend! See you all there”

The head organiser of Common People, Rob Da Bank also added “we were already off to a flyer with Common People selling out last year … and now we’re putting the cherry on top with the news that Duran Duran will be headlining”

Duran Duran’s addition to the line up seems in keeping with the all inclusive and broad musical theme of Common People. For instance, 2015’s Common People saw Grace Jones take to the stage.

Common People festival will take place between 28 – 29 May 2016. Weekend and day tickets are on sale now from the website.
