Two stabbed, one injured in City Centre brawl

Four have been arrested

Police were called late last night to the scene of a City Centre brawl that left two men with knife wounds.

The incident occurred at around 3:55am at Carlton Place, near Bedford Place and popular bars Junk and Orange Rooms.

Two men sustained knife wounds, while another man took an injury to the head.

The three were taken to hospital, and none are said to have sustained life-threatened injuries.

Police confirmed this morning there have been four arrests related to the incident.

A representative of South Central Ambulance Service told the Daily Echo “Security staff at Junk nightclub in London Road said a member of the public had been stabbed.

“We sent an ambulance and took the person to Southampton General Hospital.

“While we were dealing with that incident the ambulance crew and the police were approached by a member of the public who said a man had been stabbed in nearby Carlton Crescent.”

The street was cordoned off by police on the scene at its junction with popular Winchester Street, featuring popular venues Buddha and Tokyo, though the scene appears to have returned to normality by the morning.

There were reportedly traces of blood remaining on the pavement.

Some student’s plans for a big night out in the City Centre for the end of exams were dealt a blow by the incident, with one saying “These things always seem to happen near Bedford Place, definitely puts me off going there as opposed to Jesters or Sobar.”
