Students to hold vigil for Paris attacks on campus

An event is being held outside Hartley at 2

Students at Southampton have organised their own rally in solidarity with the victims of the terror attacks in Paris last night.

The idea was suggested on the FrenchSoc Facebook group.

There are many Southampton students currently on their year abroad in Paris. Angel Seeboruth told us: “Things seemed to have calmed down now, but everyone is still a bit nervous”.

“Luckily my friend has been visiting so I wasn’t alone. We kept hearing it was escalating last night, but we never knew what would happen next.”

Organiser Jack Davies told the Soton Tab: “we want to show an act of defiance against fear and terror.

“It will be a show of support for those who lost their lives and those who must live with the loss, but not just Paris – Beirut, Baghdad too.”
