Police are appealing for witnesses following the arrest of a man under suspicion of the assault of four women at popular Southampton music festival Soundclash.

The women, aged between 24-26, alleged that the man assaulted them by hitting them with gas canisters and punching them between 6:30-7pm on the day of the festival last Saturday.

The women involved sustained facial injuries, with some requiring stitches.

The women involved claim the man was selling Nitrous Oxide (hippy crack, as the Tories would have you know it) – a 25 year old man from Essex has been bailed until the 19th November.

Detective Stephen Ashe in charge of the investigation said “Whilst this was generally a safe and enjoyable event for those who attended, a number of woman have been subjected to, on two separate occasions, assaults by a male.”

“Witnesses describe members of the crowd intervening and holding back the male responsible. I am eager to speak with anyone that did this, or witnessed any of the assaults.”

Witnesses can get in contact with Police at 101, quoting 44150334993.
