Westridge Road has been named as one of the biggest crime spots in the country.
Data from the Home Office ranked it joint 39th on its Top 50 list.
The road has a large student population, with around half of the houses being let out to students.
Portswood and crime have long been associated with each other, with this data further proof to the stereotype.
The only real shock may be that it is Westridge that has been deemed the worst, with other roads in Portswood certainly more notorious among students.
There is no direct link in the data released between the crime rate and the student population,
Laundry Road, near Southampton General Hospital, is also amongst the list, as well as an unnamed ‘Nightclub’ on West Quay Road.
