Grab your wellies, shades, bandanas and hot pants for a two-day music festival coming to Southampton Common in May 2015.

On the Bank holiday weekend of 23rd and 24th May 2015, The multi award winning team that organises Bestival is bringing a brand new music festival, named ‘Common People’, to Southampton Common.

More than 30,000 people are expected to descend on Southampton’s common for the festival which is said to be a glorious two-day metropolitan festival, uniting all tribes under the Southampton sky.

Rob Da Bank, former BBC Radio 1 DJ, the main curator of Common People, has said:

I’m delighted to announce that we are launching a new festival in Southampton next year, our first new venture since we started Camp Bestival seven years ago.

Although the line up for the festival is said to be released early in the new year, we are assured that it will be a great mix of musical tastes, suitable for all ages.

Common People’s music line-up will be a feast of the finest that the live music and DJ scenes have to offer, from legendary stalwarts of the festival scene and guaranteed crowd pleasers, to the most exciting new acts that are getting those in the know all hot under the collar.

For all of you counting your tent pegs, we’re sorry to announce this is not going to be a camping festival. However, as Rob Da Bank added, this shouldn’t take away from the experience of Common People:

This isn’t a camping show, it’s not a tents, wellies and car packed to the rafters experience… it’s a metropolitan two day show easy to access and open to all ages, compact but packed with experiences and priced very, very reasonably.

For those of you who enjoy festivals for more than just its musical acts, we have been told that:

It’s not all about the music though, as one of the festival world’s most adventurous creative teams will be in action, transforming Southampton Common into an enchanted wonderland of eye-popping attractions and fun-fuelled escapism.

You can register for Common People’s exclusive pre sale of tickets at commonpeople.net. However, tickets will also become available in local shops as well as online.
