A BURGLAR broke in to a student house in Highfield last night, stealing a laptop.
Burglars targeted the house, on Upper Shaftesbury Avenue, at around 10pm last night.
The burglar broke in by throwing a 20kg concrete BREEZE BLOCK through the window of an empty downstairs bedroom, in front of a desk and chair, and stole a laptop from the room.
University holidays are typically accompanied by a rise in the number of break-ins, as most student houses are empty. The police warned last week of an increase in burglaries in Portswood:
We are seeing an increase in burglaries in Portswood. Some student properties have been targeted. Please be mindful of your security.
