We caught up with Scott Mills show contributor and Southampton Uni alumnus Chris Stark about his viral celebrity interviews, Jesters and the Waitrose singing lady!

ST: So what are your best memories of Southampton Uni?

Chris Stark: Really not sure where to start with this one. Being at Southampton Uni was a very important and fun part of my life and I still miss it to be honest. My best memories were the times you just take for granted when you’re there. Nights out with mates, and just always having friends around me. I also had amazing times being part of Surge Radio, and being the Friday night DJ in the Cube. Ahhhh good times!!!

ST: What halls were you in?

Chris: I was in Glen Eyre halls. When I first turned up at Uni I had to share a room with someone in Glen Eyre but after six weeks there was a chance I was going to have to move halls. I really didn’t want to and managed to persuade the student union president and the accommodation office to let me stay, and they found me a little room in Old Terrace (I think it was block D) I was with a load of foreign students, and it perhaps wasn’t as nice as the other room I was in but I didn’t care… I was in Glen Eyre!!!

ST: It’s the best of the halls! There are quite a few Southampton local heroes – e.g., the Sobar toilet attendant and his one-liners, the singing trolley lady at Waitrose, and Tariq Manzils. Who’s your favourite?

Chris: The singing lady in Waitrose (I think her name was Pat)  is my absolute favourite. I first discovered her when it used to be Morrison’s, and I love that even when they changed the supermarket, all the locals wanted her to stay. She was (and it’s good to hear is) a cult figure!!  Tariq is of course a hero, I proper miss late night Manzils. My first Curry was a late night curry after a night out in Jesters. I couldn’t believe you could get a curry at 3am, it blew my mind. Life’s not been the same since.

ST: Your Mila Kunis interview become a massive viral hit with 12 million YouTube views. But did she go to the pub/football match/wedding with you in the end?

Chris: People often ask me this expecting that we are now mates or something. Unfortunately she never ended up coming to a Watford game, or for a few drinks with the lads but on the off chance Mila Kunis is a fan of the Soton Tab then feel free to get in touch…!

ST: Haha, we can always hope! Southampton students were so proud that the tradition of Baywatch stripping got a mention in that interview. You must have learnt this at Jesters?

Chris: Of course! I used to DJ the Wednesday night AU nights at Jesters so I would play it twice in the evening. It was always carnage, those nights were insane. I went back recently after DJing a night in Southampton and it was good to see that Jesters hasn’t really changed- I love that place!

ST: So do we! What about Jennifer Aniston then? Has she been spotted in her Watford football shirt since?

Chris: Not to my knowledge but you never know what goes on behind closed doors.

In his interview with Jennifer Aniston, Chris presented her with a personalised Watford shirt.

ST: Now we’re going to use the same interviewing technique on you that you used on Jen Aniston. Did you know that your name is an anagram of ‘Rash tricks’?

Chris: I still think ‘finer not in jeans’ is the one!

ST: You interviewing Jennifer Lawrence would probably make one of the greatest interviews of all time.

Chris: Loads of people keep telling me this. She seems wicked, I’d love to meet her!

ST: Lastly…Jesters or Sobar?

Chris: Jesters. Of course.
