Burgess Road co-op police Press Release Robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery at the Burgess Road Co-op last night.

Detectives at Bitterne are appealing for information from anyone who was in the area of the Co-op store in Burgess Road, Southampton, between 10:30 – 11:15 pm Wednesday, November 13.

Shortly after closing for the day, two men forced entry into the locked Co-op store and confronted staff, forcing them to open the safe. A quantity of cash was stolen during the incident. Staff were not injured, but they were left shaken.

Detective Sergeant Stu Baker who is leading the enquiry, encouraged anyone in the area at the time to get in contact with the Police, saying

We know there were many people near the Co-op at the time of the robbery. We would encourage them to call us

Anyone who was in the Burgess Road area at the time of the robbery is asked to ring Bitterne CID on 101.
