A student house was nearly burgled over the weekend but the robber left empty handed after being scared off.

Detectives are seeking information from anyone who heard or saw an attempted burglary in Portswood on Sunday 3rd November.
At about 9.15pm, a student resident of a house in Holyrood Avenue heard a noise. Thinking it came from upstairs, she started to investigate. Part way up the stairs she saw a downstairs bedroom door open slowly but she knew the room had been locked.
When she shouted “Hello”, the door closed and the intruder fled.

Police believe the would-be burglar used a paving stone to smash a patio door to gain access to the bedroom. The burglar fled empty-handed when disturbed.
Anyone with information about unfamiliar people or vehicles in the area at the time is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Sharon Austin at Bitterne CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
