Bridget ClayAs we reported a week ago, the Shell garage on the corner of Burgess and Glen Eyre Road applied for a licence to sell alcohol. The Soton Tab can now reveal that the licence has been APPROVED.
Despite an objection from Hampshire Constabulary the licence will permit the store to serve alcohol from 7.30 AM.
The newly-granted licence won’t come into effect for another three weeks or so, the time that the shop needs to train their staff for selling alcohol and set up the Challenge 25 policy that they will be implementing.
This news will be welcomed by the 2,500 students at the Glen Eyre and Chamberlain complex who will no longer have to go ALL the way to Co-Op before pre-drinks.
