10 Things You Have To Do At Jesters

Here at the Soton Tab we have your best interests at heart, and we want to make sure you make the most out of your time in Southampton. So we have compiled a bucket list to rival all bucket lists, the top 10 things you have to do in The Palace of Dreams. Read on and make it your life ambition to complete them. 

1. Own a pair of Jesters shoes

If you’re going to be a Jesters regular then you will need to designate your least favourite pair of shoes to be your ‘Jesters Shoes’. I recommend cheap, flat and closed in, and maybe purchase two pairs at a time as they will only last three visits.

2. Do the Jesters Gold Card Challenge

A Gold Card is also a necessity if you are planning on being a regular. Now there are two ways you can get your hands on this money-can’t-buy piece of plastic. Firstly, you can go to Jesters six nights in a row but don’t forget to get signed in and out, or you can attend one of the famous Gold Card Challenges whereby you stay in Jesters for 12 hours from 1:15pm-1:15am. The SotonTab  did this last year and even wrote some top tips to help you out. Either way you decide to do it, you become a Jesters Legend.

3. Down a Jesticle

Exclusive to Jesters, a drink that consists of who knows what and changes colour every time you order it. We would recommend getting through it as quick as possible.

4. Grafitti in the toilets

Whether you want to bitch about someone, promote your society or defend your dignity the cubicles are the place to do it so come prepared with a Sharpie.

5. Get/give a blowjob on the dance floor

Although it has yet to become a trend, this picture taken on the Jesters dance floor, featuring our very own ex-VP Engagement-Shane Murphy on the left, is featured on the Embarrassing Nightclub Photos of the week Facebook page and has nearly 10,000 likes.

6. Use the two-bicle

This is one for the girls (not the ones with stage fright). This is a definite must-do, especially since they have snazzy new toilet seats now and the occasional loo roll!

7. Take your shirt off to Baywatch 

Whenever this song comes on (which is every night) the Southampton students pride themselves in taking their tops off. It’s now a tradition. Don’t be afraid of what’s underneath!

8. Go in fancy dress

From a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle to Hitler, anything is acceptable in The Palace of Dreams. Tweet us your fancy dress pictures @SotonTab

9. Exercise your beer goggles

The dark dance floor is the perfect place to lose your inhibitions and get with the nearest person in an arms reach. Warning: you will probably regret this the next day and they are probably not good looking.

10. End your night Chico-o-Land/Manzils

For cheesey chips, chicken nuggets or a kebab, Chick O Land is next door to Jesters so you can drown your sorrows. If you fancy a more sophisticated experience walk further along the road to Manzils for a curry and further boozing, don’t forget to make friends with Tariq!
