A man was assaulted by youths in an attempted robbery in Portswood.

Lawn Road: the victim was attacked by the children’s play park

A 20-year-old man was walking along Lawn Road, Portswood towards St Denys train station at around 8.45pm on Tuesday 24th September where a youth ran out from a children’s play park and demanded his mobile phone.

The victim refused and pushed the yob away where he was jumped from behind by another two youths. They knocked him to the ground and kicked him several times.

The man, who could potentially be a student, managed to struggle free and ran to the train station where police were alerted. The youths ran in an unknown direction, possibly down Lawn Road towards Lodge Road.

No weapons were seen and the victim received only minor injuries.

All of the attackers are aged 16-17, were white and wore gloves. The first was 5ft 6in tall and of a slight build. He was wearing a black hoody with the hood up and a black scarf over his face.

The second was 5ft 9-10ins tall with blond hair in an inch-long front quiff. He was wearing an all grey tracksuit. The third wore an all black tracksuit.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information on the attack which happened between 8.15 and 8.45pm in the Lawn Road area.
