For the second time, the Maths tower has been voted as Highfield Campus’ biggest eye-sore.

The arse end of a ship or Soviet apartment block?

With 56% of the 581 total votes, you guys chose the alleged maritime inspired monolith as the ugliest building on campus. Back in 2010, 68% of readers also voted it the ugliest.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom as one commenter raises an interesting point:

As a maths student I like the maths block; we look at the beautiful buildings and green areas from the maths block whilst everyone else looks at the monstrosity that is the maths block.

In second place was the Faraday tower, receiving 24% of votes.

With only 3% of votes, the Murray building next door was voted the least ugly.

In recognition of the Maths tower winning this less-than-prestigious award, we at the Soton Tab have a small trophy to present, except nobody in the Maths department was willing to accept it. Hardly surprising, really.
