Managerial legend Sir Alex Ferguson has announced that he will retire at the end of this season.  He is set to become a director and ambassador for the club. He is also set to have a hip operation in the summer.

In the 26 years he has been in charge at Manchester United he has amassed a total of 38 trophies and numerous awards as well as being a giant pain for all other clubs, most  notably Liverpool  in that during his reign Man U eclipsed the Scousers’  record of 18 top flight victories. His ever evolving team has collected 13 Premier Leagues, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 10 Community Shields (a bit mickey mouse I know), 2 Champions Leagues, 1 Cup Winners Cup (now the Europe League), 1 Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 1 Club Word Cup but no Jesters Gold Cards.

David Moyes is already being tipped as the successor the Scot, after many years being overly successful at Everton, being out of contract in the summer and he’s Scottish as well so the players won’t have to adjust to any new language barriers. Other names in the picture are the special one Jose Mourinho, and the highly likable Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp.  According to oddschecker though a range of former players, current coaching staff, Sir Alex’s son and even enemies of United Robbie Fowler and Rafa Benitez have the slightest of hopes.
