Lucy UpshallAt approximately 4pm this afternoon a car overturned on Highfield Lane. The driver was believed to be a student and escaped uninjured.
A passing ambulance came to her assistance but no medical treatment was needed. Police closed Highfield Lane with a diversion down Upper Shaftesbury Road and Church Lane. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
Tom Courtney, a passer-by described how it was a near miss:
The driver crawled out, appeared shook but not seriously injured. The car rested next to the pavement narrowly missing pedestrians (me included). Everyone was in shock but the public were great in attending to her!”
Portswood Police have been contacted for further information.
