A lone student was nearly mugged in Portswood whilst on his way home from a night out.

At around 2:40am on Saturday 23rd March, the student was punched in the mouth by one of two attackers. He suffered facial bruising.

They demanded the student’s mobile phone and money but he managed to escape with his possessions.

The attempted mugging happened on the drive of a property on Portswood Road between Champagne Charley’s and the Gordon Arms.

The two attackers are both described as 5ft 6in tall, of slim build and clean shaven. Both were wearing shirts.

Police are appealing for witnesses of this attack.
